Car Buying Tips

Part Three:
Car Buying Tips and Secrets
Want to pay too much for a lemon?
Then don't read this.
Where to start
Before you go car shopping do some homework and preparation. First check you credit score. Next get preapproved at your bank or credit union. Then

determine what your trade-in is worth. Finally, decide on the make and model of vehicle you want, with all the options, and that you can afford.

Your trade-in
Clean your car up and get it as clean as you possibly can. Take the car to several dealers and ask them to buy it outright. Then check to see what dealers are selling cars like yours for. Remember, the dealer has to make a profit and do a safty check and reconditioning, so they will offer you less than what they are selling cars like yours for. If you decide trade-in rather than sell your car privatly, make sure you have a very good idea what it is worth. Don't even mention your trade-in until you've agreed on the new car price.

CSI - Customer Satisfaction Index
Scores of 3.3 or better are good. Do some research to make sure you want to do business with a dealer who is selling the car you want.

“You can buy it in any color, as long as it’s black.”

---- Henry Ford (speaking of the, then new, Model T)
