Clean your car up and get it as clean as you possibly can. Take the car to several dealers and ask them to buy it outright. Then check to see what dealers are selling cars like yours for. Remember, the dealer has to make a profit and do a safty check and reconditioning, so they will offer you less than what they are selling cars like yours for. If you decide trade-in rather than sell your car privatly, make sure you have a very good idea what it is worth. Don't even mention your trade-in until you've agreed on the new car price.

Scores of 3.3 or better are good. Do some research to make sure you want to do business with a dealer who is selling the car you want.
